Kathmandu, 7 January : At a time when a wide section of Nepali society has been protesting Information Technology (IT) Bill, aimed to limit the fundamental rights including to freedom of speech and expression, the government has registered yet another Bill that undermines the privacy of every individuals. The provisions incorporated in the Nepal Special Service Bill permits National Investigation Department tapping and listening of conversation of any individual without anyone’s permission.
According to Naya Patrika daily, if the Bill is endorsed by the Parliament, not only telephone conversation of an individual but also the contents of electronic mails and short message texts will no more remain secret. The authorized officials can read them.
