Help save Nepal: Appeal to all Nepalis

By Dr Shastra Dutta Pant

It is an appeal to all the nationalist Nepalis regardless of political ideology, ethnicity or other affiliations. If you love Nepal then you must do your part to save Nepal. Any political institutions or events need to be evaluated in terms of two parameters – nationalism and democracy. These two things will help to make Nepal a prosperous country within a very short period. The opposition party must hinge on it. We may even have partial common agenda with others as per the same criteria.

In this context, we must unite and confront alien aggression against the very foundation of our nation’s culture and civilisation i.e. most scientific with the norms of the peaceful democracy. If you cannot stand up now then hold your peace and be ready to face the consequences of the neo-colonialistic dictatorship. The present government is too weak to take responsibility and act accordingly.

Maoists have stated and acted repeatedly that they are against democracy and peace, and for imposing their dictatorship by intimidation and terror and at present they are in power from the backdoor. Their daily actions such as Melamchi are self-evident, needs no elaboration. They have even stooped low in inviting unprecedented ethnic strife. The leaderless present government is paralyzed with fear of each other. It cannot even speak against Maoist’s aggression, for example, the Balkrishna Dhungel case. The nation is going through such stress, yet leaders are for personal aggrandizements. The constitution, for an example, is a compromise to communist dictatorship; a burden for the nation. The misfortune started since the interim parliament where un-elected Maoists were included as members. It was direct aggression against the very principle of democracy.

Nationalists must unite and come with a strong political programme. If the aggression of the political extreme left inherent in their mind will be the reality. The oppositions are too weak and fragmented to put forth any coherent program. It is up to nationalists to publicly state the correct direction for the nation.

If you believe in the development and change of mankind; belief on knowledge or the scientific fact you need to help save the different component of the societies to unite first then the ‘nationalism’ feeling will be developed. To understand the reality and try to originate more knowledge otherwise you will just count as narrow-mind; don’t try to be fooled from the developed world.

The need of the nation is an approach for peaceful transfer of power, which will enable building a permanent system of people’s representation by carrying their voices. It will also help for inadmissibility of the politics of violence and intimidation.

The Vedic Prajatantra, not democracy, will recognize our heritage, roots and values as an integral part of our nationhood. The unacceptability of any political compromise will lead to protect from national disintegration. The recognition of ‘Human rights’ will be an integral part of the polity. Nepal will be recognized as Nepal as a multi-cultural and multi-lingual nation.

It is the prerogative of the sovereign people of Nepal to decide on the salient characteristics of the nation, especially on Hindu nation and constitutional monarchy not of the west model but of the Vedic one, in which the king will have two roles one being the king of the Vedic world and the other one as the guardian of the nation and prajatantra. In this context, we must insist upon peaceful public deliberations and referendums.

Hindu Rastra (Dharma Rajya) is not about theocracy, but the acknowledgement of our heritage, roots and values. Dharma is not a religion. Dharma is Apaurishiya (non-man made) while religion is manmade. Dharma is about seeking truth ‘Satya’ and spiritual practices. Dharma is Vedic rule for Prajatantr. Parkriti+ja+ tantra or equal rule for all beings born in nature and the system of it, the panchatwa is Prajatantra. ‘Yoga’ and the ‘Ayurveda’ are for good health and good social behaviours. Karmakanda is a set of doctrines to believe and a set of behaviours to follow in society as the universal brotherhoods. It is to understand that the secularism is for religions but irrelevant to Dharma. Nepal is a Dharma country, not the religious one. Religions are partylike while Dharma is common to all based on the system of the running of the asurya-mandal including day and night, rituals and the duties of Panchatatwa. The nation is not merely a bunch of people but its ways of life in the universe following the rules of nature.

The Dharma Monarchy is not about feudalism or the divine right, but an acknowledgement of the cultural and unifying role of all the living beings and the natural system. The crown is important for supporting weak democratic institution, building consensus, check against centrifugal forces and the potential dictatorship of the extreme left or extreme right.

The 1990 Constitution states people as a sovereign power. All the political parties, including Maoists, if they believe in the constitution, should respect people as the sovereign power. They had participated in the elections under it. The members of parliament, have a moral responsibility not to transgress it by saying of alien only. Aliens have their vested interests in it.

Ethnically, political organisation based federal system will disintegrate our nation. The empowerment of marginalized subgroups must be addressed through decentralization, education, employment opportunities and raising of their standard of living along with the level of consciousness.

We must keep our Nepal Army non-political and dedicated to the service of the people. Nepal Police, teachers, civil servants and all those who draw a salary from the government fund must not involve in any political party. Their professional organisation must be free from politics. They are the servant of the people not of the party.

The economic system must cater to responsible economic growth, better environment for investments and job creation, and be conscious of the environmental and social issues. The economic progress must be defined by both creation of and equity in wealth. It must also have the components of poverty alleviation and bringing in marginalized groups within, through sarvangin and Vyavathit Boka’s model.

Nepal must oppose the Vautik Upabhoktavadi imported economic policies and cheap popularity projects. For it will lead to high inflation and economic chaos keeping poor to poorer. We must adopt a Vedic mixed economic system that makes no poor family and no billionaire ones.

And last but not least, recognizing that corruption in general and political level, in particular, is the primary reason for the failure of democracy, we must remove it by implementing family position card as mentioned in the Vyavasthit Vasti Model.
