The National Assembly, whose ninth session had a run of six meetings in four days after its commencement on June 25, was finally and, as generally expected, prorogued. That came through a formal notification from the King which was read out to the Assembly on July 4. The end of the Assembly’s ninth session – at 5 PM on July 4 – put an end to a debate that had been raging in political circles for some time arguing for and against the idea that the National Assembly as a “permanent” body could continue in session despite the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
