Employees of Janaki Medical College in Dhanusa on protest since 17 days demanding salary
Province 2, Dhanusha, Janakpur - #Governance, #LaborRights, 113 employees of Janaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Dhanusha staged a sit-in at the temple on the college campus accusing the college of being reluctant to provide the remaining savings fund, Dashain (festival) expenses and regular salary allowance for the past six years and for not implementing the agreement to pay the salary done in September even when festivals are approaching. Earlier, the staff had locked the administration branch of the college. After the college administration lodged a complaint against the staff at the District Police Office, police then spokesperson DSP Makendra Mishra called the staff and the college administration chief Dayananda Jha and they reached a three-point agreement. Due to the extreme negligence of the college, the future of the students is being jeopardized. The agreement stated that the payments will be settled by keeping accountant from both sides by September 20, the locked administration shall be opened and the college president would solve all the staff’s problem by October 16. However, the employees went on strike after the college did not abide by the agreement. Employees Movement Struggle Committee’s chairman Umesh Yadav was threatened to get expelled from the college when he demanded his salary meanwhile Chief of Administration said that the problem of the staff could not be solved until the arrival Chairman Pandey who lives in Kathmandu
