Public transportation entrepreneurs to defy lockdown
Kathmandu, 4 July: The Federation of Nepal National Transportation Entrepreneurs has decided to resume public transportation from Sunday, 5 July, defying the government lockdown.
As the government was unable to provide compensation to the transportation entrepreneurs since halt of public transportation for more than three months, entrepreneurs are facing financial crisis.
Along with easing lockdown by allowing operation of private vehicles, the government has restricted public transportation only. The government has not become responsible on the plight of transportation labours and transportation entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs have reacted and announced to defy the lockdown.
To note, most of the public vehicles have taken hire purchase loan. They have not been able to pay monthly installment of the banks.
The taxi entrepreneurs have also stopped their protest till Sunday. Since lockdown in the country, taxicabs are not allowed to operate. Taxicabs, facing serious financial crunch had launched agitation last week.
