Oli-Dahal bitter talks
Kathmandu, 9 July: The one-on-one talks between Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party chairman KP Sharma Oli and another party chairman Pushpakamal Dahal went bitter, pushing the party unity efforts towards crisis.
The two leaders were engaged in one-on-one talks to pave the way for saving the party from split for the last three days.
The party’s standing committee meeting called for Wednesday was also postponed till Friday expecting the two leaders would find a point of agreement.
When Dahal repeated the previous stance urging Oli to quit at least the PM’s post, Oli became furious and replied, “I am not going to quit any of the posts. If you are interested in becoming the PM, please wait till the next elections and to become the party chairman, please wait till the national convention. I have already informed you that I am not going to repeat these posts again.”
After such a reply from Oli, the meeting was concluded without even not setting another date for the next meeting.
Furious Oli also challenged the party leaders to oust him by holding the party meeting, Naya Patrika daily has reported by quoting a party secretariat member’s source.
