Kathmandu, 5 July : Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Khadga Oli has again made controversial and unsubstantiated remarks that conspiracies were being hatched to file an impeachment motion against President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and remove him from the post of prime minister and party chairman.
As intra-party wrangling in the ruling party has deepened further after Oli reiterated his stance for not leaving both the posts during a meeting with another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday , he met with the President on Saturday evening and briefed about the same to the members of the Cabinet about the current situation.
While addressing the meeting of the Cabinet members and State Ministers, Oli said, “I had to make a quick decision to prorogue the budget session of parliament last week after coming to know that some of our party members were hatching conspiracy to register an impeachment motion against President at parliament,” according to a minister.
Oli also urged the ministers to make their position clear whether to support him at this hour of crisis. “I will try to save the party until the last moment, but if I don’t succeed, the party will fall apart. Everyone knows that conspiracies being hatched against me and President. Such activities cannot keep the party united,” the minister said quoting Oli.
“He instructed us to clarify our position and prepare for a decision,” the minister said, “Even if the Prime Minister does not clarify, there is a possibility of party split or any other political decision.”He said that Oli could take a tough decision before any decision is taken by the Standing Committee meeting.
