Oli, Dahal on naturalized citizenship after 7 years of marriage
Kathmandu, 20 June: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, NCP co-chairman Pushpakamal Dahal and other NPC leaders are of the opinion of granting naturalized citizenship to a person only after seven years staying in Nepal after the marriage with a Nepali citizen.
This agreement is against the legal provision of granting naturalized citizenship to a foreign lady immediately after her marriage with a Nepali citizen.
At a discussion held at Baluatar on Friday evening, PM Oli and party’s co-chairman Dahal agreed on granting naturalized citizenship to the foreigners married to Nepali citizens only after their stay in the country for seven years.
The citizenship amendment bill is under consideration of the Parliament. NCP MP Pampha Bhushal informed that chairmen duo of the NCP have developed consensus on granting naturalized citizenship to foreigners only after seven years of their stay in Nepal after marriage.
