Internationalise Kalapani dispute, say political leaders

Kathmandu, 14 April: Political leaders attending an all party meeting called by the government asked the government to initiate result oriented effort to return Nepali territory occupied by India in Kalapani. They expressed solidarity on any effort initiated by the government to return the territory. The meeting was held at Prime Minister’s official residence on 13 May evening.

Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali said that the meeting given the consent to the government to return Nepal’s territory in Kalapani area.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had called an all-party meeting also inviting former prime ministers to discuss on construction of a link-road from Pithauragadh to the Tibet border via Lipulekh, Nepali territory, by the Indians.

They urged for initiating effective diplomacy to return the Nepali territory.

PM Oli expressed the commitment to save the territory gifted by our brave ancestors.

Former prime minister and leader of the opposition party NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba asked the government for effective diplomacy instead of remaining silent while issuing statement.

Deuba expressed solidarity on the government move to end border dispute with India.

RPP chairman Prakashchandra Lohani and Janamorcha leader Chitra Bahadur KC asked the government to internationalize the border dispute. They also advised the government to initiate talks with China also as the territory is tri-junction of the three countries – Nepal, India and China.
