Kathmandu, 10 December: The Election Commission has scheduled to hold election of the National Assembly members on 23 January, 2020. Commission authorities held a meeting with the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday. During the meeting, the Commission authorities had proposed the election date.
By 3 March, one thirds of the NA members’ tenure will be completed. 35 days earlier to their retirement, new members have to be elected to succeed them. The government, following the date set by the Commission, will have to write a letter to the President.
NCP’s nine members, NC’s 7 members, RJP’s 2 members and Socialist Party’s one member are getting retirement by 3 March. Also, the President nominated Finance Minister Yubraj Khatiwada is going to complete his tenure. To continue as the minister, the President has to re-nominate Khatiwada.
