India’s expansionist attitude in Kalapani

Kathmandu, 8 November: Finally, India has unilaterally included Nepali territory Kalapani in her political map, which has been strongly opposed by all the Nepalis and all the political parties, except from some Tarai based political parties.

In spite of strong opposition from the Nepal government and political parties, the Indian government has demonstrated its expansionist attitude claiming that there was no change in the boundaries with Nepal.

Spokesperson of the Indian External Affairs Ministry, Raveesh Kumar, said, “Our map accurately depicts the sovereign territory of India. The new map has in no manner revised our boundary with Nepal.”

The present Indian attitude makes clear its intention of continuously encroaching Nepali territory.

According to the international border experts, there is dispute in 78 places on Nepal-India international borders. Out of 26 districts adjoined with India, in 23 districts, there is border dispute with India. The Indian side has forcefully encroached Nepali territory even by discarding evidences.

Minister for Information and Communication, also spokesman of the Nepal government, Gokul Banskota made clear that Nepal is not going to accept the present map made public by India.

Banskota said that Nepal has enough evidences to prove Kalapani is Nepal’s sovereign territory.
