Kathmandu, 20 October: Multinational company Gorkha Brewery is found producing local alcohol discarding quality and standard described by the existing laws.
The Brewery run by the Khetan Group is found producing international brands Carlsberg, Tuborg and San Miguel beers violating the quality and standard.
The Internal Revenue Department has initiated action against the Company, reports Rajdhani daily.
The Department has restricted sending such beers in the market
The Department, based on classification, has categorized such beers as local licker.
The Brewery is found working illegally by manipulating some government officials. Concerned sectors have asked the government for massive investigation against the Brewery. There should be 50 per cent quantity of barley while producing such beers but the Brewery is using rice dust instead of barley and exploiting the consumers.
The Brewery is also facing a court case against manipulating excise duty to the government. The Brewery has to pay one billion 440 million rupees as an excise to the Internal Revenue Department.
Several cases registered at the Revenue Inquisition Authority by the Internal Revenue Department against the Brewery are still under consideration in the Court.
